Copyright and Licensing Policy

Authors who publish with UMI Medical Journal (UMJ) agree to the following copyright and licensing terms:

1. Copyright Ownership and First Publication Rights

Authors retain the copyright of their published work. By publishing with UMI Medical Journal (UMJ), authors grant the journal the right of first publication. Articles published in UMJ are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

This license permits others to copy, redistribute, adapt, and build upon the published work for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the initial publication in UMI Medical Journal is acknowledged, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated. Adapted material must be distributed under the same license as the original work.

2. Authors’ Rights to Share and Distribute Their Work

Authors may share, distribute, and deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other academic platforms, provided that the original publication in UMI Medical Journal is properly acknowledged and such distribution complies with the applicable Creative Commons license.

Authors may also enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of their published work, provided that these arrangements do not conflict with the rights granted to the journal or the applicable Creative Commons license.

3. Reuse and Attribution

Readers and other users may share, redistribute, and adapt articles published in UMI Medical Journal in accordance with the terms of the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

Any reuse must provide appropriate attribution to the original author(s), acknowledge UMI Medical Journal as the original source of publication, include a link to the applicable Creative Commons license, and indicate whether changes have been made. Users must not impose additional legal or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted under the license.

4. Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original and that they have obtained the necessary permissions for all third-party materials included in their articles, including figures, tables, photographs, and other copyrighted content, unless such materials are lawfully available for reuse.

Authors must properly acknowledge third-party materials and disclose any content subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions. Authors are also responsible for ensuring that their work does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.

5. Journal Commitment

UMI Medical Journal is committed to promoting the dissemination of scientific knowledge through open access while respecting authors’ copyright and intellectual property rights.
